A Hot Concoction for Fighting Flu and Inflammation

Ever since I became a nutritionist, it's been hard for me to admit that I still get sick on occasion. It's usually not for very long, and it doesn't happen often, but it still happens. I need to stop viewing it as a blow to my 'nutritional pride' and simply accept it as a chance to improve on some home remedies for a speedy recovery. And as a reminder to abstain from dairy (which adds to the mucous) and sugar (which feeds the bad germs).

This is a hot drink concoction made from following added to a cup of hot water:

1 T raw honey (antiviral)
1 T ground ginger (antimicrobial) or a 1-inch slice fresh ginger, minced
1/2 T ground or powdered turmeric (inflammation-fighting)
2 T lemon juice (with some added zest)

Ingredient portions are loose so add more or less for your specific taste.

This stuff will clear your sinuses and calm your coughs in no time to have you sleeping like a baby by tonight. Or sooner. :)
