HOW IT STARTED : MY STORY
Full transparency: I was raised on Cocoa Puffs, Nutella sandwiches and iceberg lettuce (circa the early 90s). But thankfully now I'm mostly known for my anti-inflammatory cookbooks and my work as a holistic nutritionist focusing on my favorite seasons of life, the ‘Three P’s’ — Preconception, Prenatal, and Postpartum.

How did I get from point A to point B? Well, my parents will be the first to admit that I wasn't exactly modeled the perfect diet growing up. While none of us were drastically sick or overweight, we knew we could do better. It wasn't until college, when I began to experience the diets and lifestyles of new friends and roommates, that my eyes were opened to new ways of thinking about food. "Meat isn’t the only form of protein? Quinoa exists!?" These 'groundbreaking' discoveries sparked what would become a lifelong journey with clean, organic, unprocessed, REAL FOOD.
Now I feel extremely blessed to be able to give tools to couples hoping to get pregnant, as well as mamas who are already pregnant and looking to provide their child with the best possible health outcome.
In 2015, my first book came out: The Apple Cider Vinegar Cure: Essential Recipes & Remedies to Heal Your Body Inside and Out.
In the beginning of 2017, my first full cookbook was released: The Anti Inflammatory Diet Cookbook: No Hassle 30-Minute Recipes to Reduce Inflammation.
I also had my first baby in March of 2017! This is Levi. He's the best. You can bookmark his birth story for later here.
The food we eat and the way we eat it not only determine the quality of our days—they number them as well. With every client I work with, I promote a customized whole foods diet, full of plants, healthy fats and traditional foods. No gimmicks or quick-fix potions.
I have come to see eating as one of the most intimate acts a human can perform.
Yet the food choices many of us make are often politically and financially driven. It's my goal to educate others on truly eating for health. This online space is about lowering your judgment and embracing your own journey toward wellness. Holistic nutrition is a subject matter that never stops giving — there is so much to still be discovered!
I’m excited to be on this journey with you all, actively striving to give our world real and honest answers about our bodies and the foods we choose to feed them.
Madeline Given holds a B.A. in Communication from Westmont College (rated #1 by Princeton Review in academics amongst CCCU members). She went on to earn her certification in Nutrition Consulting from Bauman College, a non-profit educational institution devoted to the promotion of health and wellness through holistic nutrition and culinary arts. It is a recommended training program through the National Association of Nutrition Professionals.
